Services and Policy Making on multi-local living

We are glad to announce that the call was very successful and we managed to collect in the end several abstracts from as many different institutions! Unfortunately, the current international situation due to COVID19 emergency forced us to modify our plans and re-arrange the meeting organization, as you may imagine. Nobody seems to be able to forecast the evolution, in particular in terms of time extent, of the virus spreading, and consequently of the limitations and obstacles to daily activities.

For this reason the Local organizing committee, in accordance with the scientific committee, decided to postpone the Fourth meeting of the European Network for Multi-locality Studies, planned originally for the 25th and 26th May, to this autumn, on the 12th and 13th November 2020, same venue.

The ultimate programme will be published on September 2020, in the meanwhile we wish you all the best in this difficult period.

Regards,
Prof. Matteo Colleoni

25th and 26th May 2020, Milan

The University of Milano-Bicocca has launched a Call for Papers for the fourth international meeting of the European Network for Multi-locality Studies, planned at the Department of Sociology and Social Research, with the supervision of Prof. Matteo Colleoni and the researchers belonging to the Research Center on Mobility, Tourism and Territory (CeMTeT). The event will be held on 25th and 26th May 2020 and will gather the researchers belonging to the network and working on the phenomenon of Multilocalism in different European contexts.  Risen only recently as a consequence of the strong development and extension of mobility opportunities, the concept of Multilocalism is located in between the consolidated and aknowledged areas of research for mobility and migration, characterising those individuals whose daily life is located in two or more places, whose distance, due to its magnitude, cannot be covered through daily commuting.

This edition of the meeting will focus in particular on Services and Policies for Multi-localism

This meeting offers the opportunity to discuss the need of policies and services, or analyse the existence and characteristics of the current ones, proposed by public bodies (as local and state policies and regulations), private companies (as part for example of companies’ welfare) or other private actors (in terms of market services), suitable for multilocal individuals and families (even if not directly designed for them explicitly like co-working spaces, or co-housing solutions, or sharing mobility services…).

The publication of the detailed meeting’s programme, presenting all the contributions and participants involved, will follow soon.

Please find here the Call for Papers for the meeting, we welcome abstracts of 3.000 signs maximum (references excluded), deadline on 22nd February 2020.
